Doesnt work right on Bluetooth speaker

I can use this as a mic just fine with the Apple TV but when I try to use my Bluetooth speaker with AirPlay,the microphone in my speaker is active and iPhone mic picks up nothing even though it is selected. The result is I have to hold the speaker to my mouth like a microphone.
